About the Farm

Our 4-acre, Certified Organic vegetable farm is located in Ferndale, CA. We grow a large variety of vegetables for various local grocery stores, food distribution organizations, farmstands, restaurants, and our own farmstand which we operate on Saturdays from May-December. We also offer a Free-Choice CSA membership to 100+ members each year, who attend our farmstand to shop for their produce. We prep our field and garden beds using our 4-wheel tractor or 2-wheel walk behind tractor, but do all other tasks using small equipment, hand-held tools, and our own two hands (seeding, transplanting, weeding). We are a small farm, owned and operated by a husband and wife team, and everyone on the farm works very closely with each other throughout the day. We value hard work, positivity, and good communication.

About You

Applicants will have a passion for local agriculture and a strong desire to work on a small-scale, high-production organic vegetable farm. Previous vegetable farm experience is preferred, but not required. Our ideal applicant will:

    • be able to commit for the entire summer/fall season.
    • have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.

    • be able to work efficiently alone as well as in a team. You will do both regularly.
    • have a can-do attitude and be a supportive team member. A positive attitude makes ALL the difference when working hard and working hard with others. We strive to create and maintain a supportive and encouraging environment on the farm.
    • work efficiently. Efficiency is one of our top priorities; we look to hire people who can work quickly without compromising on quality standards.
    • be inquisitive! We wish that you'll ask lots of questions to help you better understand the task at hand. Good communication is imperative.

    • seek to understand our farm operation as a whole, as one seemingly small task can play an important role in the larger farm systems.
    • take pride in your work and your contribution to the farm's success. You will be an essential part of our team, and your hard work will be valued.
    • be able to listen, follow directions, and learn from past experiences.
